Location:
On Vinalhaven Island, across the Fox Islands thoroughfare from Northhaven, Mid-Coast & Islands, Maine, New England Coast, USA
Access to Vinalhaven is by Maine State Ferry Service, six times daily daily, then by your car,

Accommodations:
Very quiet and private, newly built, post and beam cabin--one bedroom in the loft—in Polly Cove within Carvers Cove on the north side of the island looking across the Fox Island Thoroughfare to North Haven past Widows Island and Goose Neck Rock. Two tent platforms (one in a tree) and tents if needed for guests or older children.
The balance of the cottage living area contains a spacious open floor plan with a full kitchen, eating area and large living room with a wood burning stove and a fold-out couch. Two sets of sliding glass doors provide spectacular views. Dining room table for 8. From the wrap-around (80 feet) deck, watch the seals, blue heron, osprey and eagles dive in the cove; beautiful wide and shallow beach, easy deep water access for two included, small kayaks and a row boat, next to a land preserve with hiking paths and a salt water marsh.
Enjoy low environmental impact vacationing (composting toilet with an incredible view, water pumped by hand, solar showers) with electricity, full kitchen, out door gas grill. Internet access is pending.
Perfect for families with young kids, nature lovers, writers, artists, photographers, kayakers, it’s a peaceful, private, restorative site, yet a fine place for a wedding with deep water anchorage, easy access for sailboats and schooners out of Rockland to lease for the weekend for guests at lower costs than most hotel rooms(and much more fun). Wedding supporting service available on the island. Send the guests away and stay for your honeymoon.
Pet Friendly: Dogs are welcome as long as the owners pick up after them and cover the bedding to avoid getting hair on our linens.
Smoking not allowed.
The 'downtown' of Vinalhaven offers something for everyone. An artist’s haven, galleries and shows “stair-step” each other all summer. Stop at the Lobstermen’s Co-Op to buy fresh lobster for dinner; shop for fresh ice cream and coffee. The grocery store can provide everything from staples to fresh fish, wine and cheese. Bring your children to 'Go Fish' for old time penny candy or to find a special gift. Enjoy a casual breakfast or lunch, or a very fine dinner at one of several restaurants. Watch the lobster boats in the busy, working harbor.

Recreation: Besides kayaking in the cove and to neighboring islands, the island also has several fresh water quarries, safe for swimming or sunbathing. Pack a picnic. Enjoy any of the numerous nature preserves, private trails, Brown’s Head Lighthouse, or views from the top Starboard Rock at sunrise or Tip-Toe Mountain at sunset. A bike ride on Round-the-Mountain Road into town is a solid workout.
